So, when I first installed bbZero, I had a lot of random errors that I was able to solve (thanks to the users/admins of this forum). I'd like to give back by showing a few fixes to some issues I ran into.

Steam Games (Full on Crash / etc.) #

Just go into the "SET LAUNCH OPTIONS" and add "-windowed -noborder" (which gives you a fullscreen-like appearance)

(This has worked for Dungeon Defense II and CSGO, however it should work for every game in steam)

League of Legends: fullscreen error #

Note: This was a random effect, however it makes the game run even faster anyways.

All you do is go into the video settings (ingame) and set the game to "borderless-windowed' works like a charm.

(this should work for basically every game. I guess the shell has an issue working with some fullscreen applications.)

# Fix 'ALL' full screen issues #

One flaw with some of these 'fixes' is that you still need to be able to enter the game before you can change the setting... Thankfully, I have a fix for THAT too! (It's sloppy, but it's a temporary option until you have it fully solved --- PLUS if my fixes don't work for everything, you can actually rely on this fix to solve basically every potential issue.)

 • Open up your task manager (CTRL+ALT+DEL)
 • Switch to 'Processes'
 • Kill 'blackbox.exe' (don't worry!)
 • Run the game -> fix the error -> etc?
 • Open task manager again
 • File -> New Task(Run...)
 • Open: [ C:bbZeroblackbox.exe ] (or wherever you placed it. )
 • Done!

A little note here.. If my borderless windowed mode solution doesn't fix your game, you can actually run it with blackbox.exe killed, then turn it back on when you're done playing.

Alright. I hope this is somewhat helpful!

Cheers
~ Kashire

Or you can add them to your /plugins/bbLeanSkin/exclusions.rc. For some reason it had no impact on Firefox when I tried it, but perhaps it will help you.

I've found that simply changing the rc files of plugins and reloading bb tends to not work as it should, unload the plugin, edit the config, reconfigure, then reload the plugin. Some plugins also edit their own configs (so its a good idea to unload first anyway)

Just want to add this on:

I don't really play many games via steam but one thing bb related that I noticed with games is that bb* doesn't have the focus stealing issue in windows 8.1 which causes "click-through" in some games when your in-game mouse cursor clicks an area where the windows taskbar is in the background.

In particular Fallout 3/NV and Skyrim.

Yes. You can do this, but this work around is for after you add them to exclusions.rc and it doesn't work properly.

You may want also to do the following as each of them (unless mentionned) helped me to fix issues at time (Win7x64, no 8/9/10 here):

 • disable 'auto-hide' feature of bars or bbIconsBox/slit as they tend to grab the focus on Skyrim/Fallout4 and, actually, every single games I played (-> use menu/Ctrl-RightClick or edit bbIconsBox.rc : bbIconBox.<name_of_element>.AutoHide: false, edit BlackBoxBar.rc:BlackboxBar.AutoHide: false) then reconfigure/restart bb,
 • change the "style" (bbZero is shipped with many styles, you may want to use one of them which you find to work with your game(s) so that you can use that style for every games),
 • use a style which doesn't have any background picture (color is ok): I recently faced a few ... small issues with my background picture (or bsetroot or ...) ; can't say more about that (no clue) but just in case,
 • add game's name name to bbLeanSkin/exclusion.rc as mentionned above, but do not forget to right-click Desktop --> Blackbox | bbLeanSkin | Toggle Skin --> UNtick then re-tick to take exclusion into account. That will only remove the bb skin afaik i.e. solve a potential issue only if running the app windowed,
 • disable (UNtick) bbLeanSkin right before playing the game ? (not sure that one could solve anything though).

That's all I can see right now.
