bblean firefox

I had this session problem in latest Firefox too, downgrading to v25 "solves" it.

FF has a messy UI by default, but with some modifications it's possible to use bbLeanskin fine, without flickering.

What I've done:

- installed this extension: https://addons.mozil...-button-remove/

- enabled menu bar

Here's how mine looks like:

Great tip, thanks!

I am currently using the 32 bit build of bbMean from Diabol. http://blackbox4wind...n-1171-3264bit/

I use it in place of the explorer shell (as I think a shell replacement is meant) on a Windows 8.1 x64 system and it seems to work fine.

I had though to alleviate eternal firefox problems by setting it to run in compatibibily mode for Vista SP2 as instructed here in this thread ( this fixes profile crashes) and to exclude other 4 processes from skinning (I suspect skinning crashing flash in firefox):

In my bbleanskin exclusions.rc I have:

# Invisible windows:# (Listed here to save resources, and possibly trouble) FlashPlayerUpdateService.exe FlashUtil_ActiveX.exe FlashUtil32_12_0_0_44_Plugin.exe FlashPlayerPlugin_12_0_0_44.exe

I've resorted to this in the blind belief something's gotta give  and it did. They are all from C:WindowsSysWOW64MacromedFlash (which is the location of flash on 8.1 x64 systems)

Another thing I 've done prior is to disable plugin-container process in firefox and create as instructed elsewhere user variable MOZ_DISABLE_OOP_PLUGINS with value 1 and  in about:config  changed dom.ipc.plugins.enabled to FALSE

For now it's working fine.

I do not know for sure which is responsible of which but by trial and error I've settled on this solution for now.

Now this is interesting, I've used bbMean for ages now and never noticed the restore-closed-tab thingy or profile issues in ff and never bothered, because i've set ff to not remember history anyways :D

As for the titlebar, there is no need to install extensions to get ff to work with bbleanskin, what you need is:

tick View -> Titlebars -> Menu Bar

That disables the ugly firefox-button and gives you the good old menu into which you can move your bookmarks folder or location bar or both.

I am pretty sure that the history-thingy is due to this "update": https://bugzilla.moz...g.cgi?id=891056

It's not because bb screws something up, it's because bb does not provide something which ff expects on windows 7/8 where it just blindly assumes to be running under explorer

(I'll investigate this the coming days)

Enable the menu, then hide it again with Hide Menubar. ^_^

For anyone who comes across this thread for newer Firefox versions (35) the App Button Remove extension didn't do the trick for me on Windows 7. What did work for me to fix the Firefox titlebar integration was to change the Windows 7 Theme (in Personalization) to "Windows 7 Basic", then in Firefox to go Menu -> Customize and click on Title Bar to turn it on. I also did not need the menu bar enabled for this fix.

Without changing the theme to "Windows 7 Basic" the title bar mostly worked but for some reason I had about a 1-pixel high row that still flickered below the Blackbox titlebar.

For me switching to the pale moon browser eliminated the problem. Its built on the firefox base and works well.

What worked for me on Windows 7 64-bit is the "Classic Theme Restorer" add-on. This is Firefox 35.0.1:

Worked for me on Waterfox 37.0.1, thanks.

after a fresh install of Windows i always tend to disable visual effects right away(except for cleartype maybe) and this is mainly because of obsolete hardware(or in an attempt to save some performance).

nevertheless, i'm still experiencing ocasional flickers and "disappearings/reappearings"(wich, i guess, are rather cosmetic and ignored most of the time) of the FF/bb titlebar or, to be more corect, bb's titlebar that is on top of the FF one(with menubar disabled, in fact even when temporarily enabled with Alt it sits hidden under bb titlebar thus useless in my case). other apps seem to work fine(for now), Steam client(as i had noticed rescently) has its own skinning wich doesn't interfere with bb(Lean1.17.1 32bit).
