BBLean may be dead, but it's been replaced by Mojmir's build.

Anyone get this working right? I keep getting the crash on launch. Windows 7 x64.

Before installing Windows 10, one of my puters was running Win 7 x64. Had no issues whatsoever. There may be a conflict with other startup items. Are you using a shell switcher/manager?

No shell managers or anything like that, i just use bsetshell to set as my default and it will work after i login, but if I make any changes at all and have to restart bbZero while still logged in, it will crash. The only things I can think of that might mess with it would be nVidia Shadowplay, or zMatrix. I'll test without those now and report back.
Nope, didn't work.

Strange.
One more thing mojmir will have to look into.

Ok, so I've been playing with this one in Windows 7 x64 for a while and have mostly gotten things working. One thing particularly driving me crazy though is bSetRoot seems to have a strange issue where, on startup (and sometimes if I reconfigure/restart Blackbox) it randomly (but very very frequently) will actually "run" whatever I have set the background to (which, on my setup, opens the background image in IrfanView.) It also has a few oddities in BlackboxBar. For example, if I remove the left and right workspace switch buttons (I just use two, so simply clicking it is sufficient and those just waste space) the workspace label suddenly grows huge (I just named them "1" and "2" which is perfect for my needs.) If I move the buttons around in some positions it makes the label grow huge again. For example, if I put the label as the first item followed by the right workspace button, it gets huge (probably about 20 characters worth large.) If I have the left button and then the label, then it's small again.
A lot of plugins seem to have very minimal or no documentation whatsoever though. For example, is there anything on the BlackboxBar.rc file? A lot of it is fairly intuitive, but there are a few things that I have no idea if it can even do or not. For instance, can I place a vertical line separating components? To me the workspace label and the tray feel very awkward as they are right now even if I edit my style and put in a border or something (actually, the border feels more awkward. Plus there doesn't seem to be a setting for the tray for whatever reason.) I put in spaces, but that isn't quite right either. I tried searching around, but the closest I could find was an old bbLean-oriented plugin download page with a dead link to a plugin that may or may not even be an older version of the same one.
BTW, should it really be impossible to download builds without having to create a forum account first? Especially given that it requires manual administrator approval AND manual double checking (not just approval, but I had to answer an e-mail proving I'm human first) just to get to it.

So let me get this straight, you boot your PC and blackbox starts then BAM your background wallpaper loads in infranview? I've found loading wallpapers is more efficient through bbStyleMaker gui then doing it in the config files. I would definitely reset and try setting it through that and see if it causes any issue. That said whether through gui or text i've never had this issue happen to me.
BB4Win in general when it takes over as your shell can sometimes causes apps to behave inappropriately, I havn't had any problem on windows 10 with my apps but theres two behavior items that I did observe. For one command prompt working directory tends to default to the BBZero folder which can cause issues when running a batch file directly from a folder, but I use conemu and I can easily get around this. I found one application that rewrote its own config files and stored them in the BBzero folder, which I found awkward but it didn't affect functionality or cause any unforeseen problems anywhere.
Code it generates,
rootCommand: bsetroot -gradient raisedhorizontalgradient -from rgb:c0/c0/c0 -to rgb:c0/c0/c0 -full g:\pictures\Poxlinenew.png

The information on these two sites are still fairly relevant to all blackbox builds on windows. Not perfect, but also my goto for small odds and ends.

Your workspace button issue is strange, I to do not use any workspace buttons but I do have the actual labeled button which is what I assume you mean. It works fine for me as this example shows,

Not real issues, other than a dislike towards net browsers, something which can be addressed by disabling bbleanskin/blackboxskin for those browsers. Anyway, a new totally compatible build is on its way

Even though there are no major issues (like bbZero not working at all or so) there are issues which seem to affect several users. For example there's the volume mixer problem from this thread: http://blackbox4wind...ixer-in-bbzero/
Unfortunately I couldn't find any solution to this. Don't want to belittle mojmir's build, it's great, I love it and use it since I found it. But I wanted to use the chance to call attention to it. Maybe mojmir fixes this in his new build or someone knows a fix by now.

Yes, this is a known issue. I am sure Mojmir will find a way around that

I may have a work around for this. If you are accustom to AutoHotkey here is a little script using CTRL+Arrow keys. (CTRL+Arrow up/down for volume control - CTRL+Arrow right to mute or unmute. the script below:
;#NoTrayIcon
^Up::
SoundSet +3
SoundSet, +3, wave
gosub, vupdt
return
^Down::
SoundSet -3
SoundSet, -3, wave
gosub, vupdt
return
^Left::
SoundSet, -0, Microphone, mute
IfWinExist, volume
{
SoundGet, m_m, Microphone, mute
if m_m = On
GuiControl,, R, 0
else
GuiControl,, R, 1
SetTimer,label, 2000
return
}
Gosub, show
Return
^Right::
SoundSet, -0, MASTER, mute
IfWinExist, volume
{
SoundGet, v_m, master, mute
if v_m = On
GuiControl,, Pic1,*icon40 C:\WINDOWS\system32\mmsys.cpl
else
GuiControl,, Pic1, *icon1 C:\WINDOWS\system32\mmsys.cpl
SetTimer,label, 2000
return
}
Gosub, show
Return
;This routine is isolated to avoid icon flashing
vupdt:
IfWinExist, volume
{
SoundGet, master_volume
GuiControl,, MP, %master_volume%
SetTimer,label, 2000
return
}
Gosub, show
Return
show:
SoundGet, master_volume
SoundGet, m_m, Microphone, mute
SoundGet, v_m, master, mute
IfWinNotExist, volume
{
Gui, +ToolWindow -Caption +0x400000 +alwaysontop

Gui, Add, text, x97 y2 ,Volume:

Thanks alot for your script. To be honest, I didn't use AutoHotkey yet but now I'm seriously considering it. Thanks, too, for mentioning mmsys.cpl. I wasn't aware of that file but it's 75% of what I needed (the other 25% are the mixer where I can set the volume of single applications).

NP mate.
To be honest the piece of script is not mine but since Bblean and the old blackbox forks went dormant I had to find a way to get things work, so I started to rip off pieces of scripts on popular AHK boards. I found that the macro automation complement BB.
With windows 10, and until Mojmir and the other Devs get BBZero fully operational, AHK take care of many of the small "bugs". Moreover if you have more patience and more skill than me I think you'll find AHK to be the perfect companion for BBZero, combined with BBkeys the shell is so powerful...

P.S. I think i have a piece of script that open a gui of the mixer. I'll do a search this WE and post here if I find it.
