A long time ago, in a galaxy far away and now lost for ever, aptly named lostinthebox, MQ had uploaded some great buttons for our bbleanskin configurations. I am reposting them here, more will surely follow as I seem to have over 100 buttons for BBLeanSkin in my archives.

All credits go to MQ, wish he were with us on this site.

Please ask if unsure how to use them to change your current buttons. Instructions are included in the preview, but make sure to rename your current buttons.bmp to "whatever".bmp before copying your fave button.bmp to bbleanskin's folder. Unless you don't want to use your current buttons ever again :)

That very demo shot pitkon put up is what made me get off my butt and make my own buttons (years ago). It's so darn easy.

  • Here's the set I've been using for years. The glyphs are not very descriptive at all, so it's not the best set, but I guess I've gotten used to them.
  • These suffer from the same problem, and were a first attempt.
  • This was an attempt at humor, featuring a little bald mascot. I never finished it.
  • These are just pictograms.
  • Here's a set I made based on the short story "Roll Them Bones," in which dice are made to resemble skulls.
  • "
  • "
  • "
  • "
  • And lastly, a set based on weather glyphs.

Here they are in order:

Here's my set of bbLeanSkin buttons. There are four button set variations and each set comes in the following sizes:

    [*]9x9
    [*]11x11
    [*]13x13
    [*]15x15
    [*]17x17
    [/list]

The four sets are labled; "a", "b", "c", and "d".

The "a" set are just the typical buttons glyphs that you see and there is nothing special about them - but they do come in 5 sizes so you can have tiny buttons or large buttons what ever your preference.

Variations "b", "c", and "d" are a little different... there are glyphs in them that are color inverted. What I mean by that is that the area(s) that use to be white are now black and vise-versa. What this does is force the button to appear flat - no matter what the texture in the style is set to - and it's color will be the foregroundColor.

By doing this to some glyphs in the button set and not others, you can have buttons that apear different than the other buttons.

In the "b" variation, only the close glyph (X) is invereted and will draw flat no matter the texture applied in the style. The rest of the glyphs will draw normally.

In the "c" variation, all the glyphs except the close glyph (X) are inverted so the close glyph will draw normally and the rest of the glyphs will draw flat.

In the "d" variation, all the glyphs are inverted - which is kind of dumb - but if you always want your buttons to be drawn flat, this variation is for you.

    Here they be:

Thought about it... Opted for the quick-n'-dirty easy route.

Obviously, your not going to let that fly

In the following pics I am using my Bubinga style for the gradient type style example and my bbNote_1.07 (bbn_1.07) style for the flat style example. The buttons size in the examples is 15x15.

First we have the "a" style buttons - nothing special...:

But wait, let's play with window.button.marginWidth. In the examples above, window.button.marginWidth is set to "3". But, what if...

! space around bitmaps in buttons
window.button.marginWidth: 4

or...

! space around bitmaps in buttons
window.button.marginWidth: 2
Posted Image
Posted Image
or even...

! space around bitmaps in buttons
window.button.marginWidth: 1
Posted Image
Posted Image

Did you notice that when window.button.marginWidth is set to "4" that the effect was to put an extra "border" around the "X" button?

And look what happens when window.button.marginWidth is set to "2" and even "1". The regular buttons get smaller and the odd ball button looks larger!

There's more...

The size of the buttons you use can have a dramatic effect when used with window.button.marginWidth. Here's the 15x15 "b" buttons used in my PrimaryColors-01 style with window.button.marginWidth se to "2" (they are set to "3" in the d/l):

And, here is what happens when I use the same style file settings and change the button size to 9x9:

If you still don't get it, don't let this spin your head, just experiment.

Whew, Pete, you make me work!

I like the idea of inverting. Some time ago I wanted to make the close button stand out, kind of how it did in Windows XP (only looking less like clown makeup), and I can't believe I didn't think of this.
