Linux gtk3 theme help Paz

Best Answer Paz , 06 April 2014 - 02:29 AM

Just solved the issue I had with those stubborn buttons as you can see in the screenie below :

apparently, It's a primary-toolbar I needed to config. in gtk-widgets.css file :

.primary-toolbar GtkComboBox.combobox-entry .button,.primary-toolbar .raised .button,.primary-toolbar .raised.button,.primary-toolbar .button:hover {    background-image: -gtk-gradient (linear, left top, left bottom,                                     from (shade(@dark_bg_color, 1.0)),                                     to (shade(@dark_bg_color, 0.9)));    -unico-border-gradient: -gtk-gradient (linear, left top, left bottom,                                           from (shade (@dark_bg_color, 0.7)),                                           to (shade (@dark_bg_color, 0.8)));    -unico-glow-color: shade (@dark_bg_color, 1.3);    -unico-inner-stroke-gradient: -gtk-gradient (linear, left top, left bottom,                                                 from (shade (@dark_bg_color, 1.0)),                                                   to (shade (@dark_bg_color, 0.9)));}

Hope it will help someone,

Mission accomplished!

I certainly see the reason now that I see the whole thing. Its a good design overall.... Very mac-ish which I like.  :whistling:  In fact with a color change its almost exactly what I think a theme should look like.   Very similar to my own mock-ups. Unfortunately I suck at Gtk, I can sorta do Cinnamon, but Gtk is out of my league. I just mentioned the font color because I had that discussion on a cinnamon I worked on with some guys on mint forums. The end reason for a different color was for "older eyes".

A color shift to "Platinum" would make it perfect  Yes I went there

One thing and I don't know if it would work in Gtk.... But I used an effect in my cinnamon theme where I increased the font size on hover, so that the fonts popped out when ever you moused over them. Its a good effect.

in fact I could work up a matching Cinnamon With minimal effort using my Rosewood theme as a base If you like. check it out http://hexdef101.dev...1-0-B-424766437

Thank you @hex, Glad you like!  I wanted a change .. didn't want to go for "more off the same" color :) . about Gtk being out of your league, don't believe it, I knew nothing about it when started, and even now I'm far from knowing .. I'm just learning while trying. I never learned how to code so I'm reading all a lot about it .. messing around with it and eventually getting the results I needed, well, almost ..    It's only my second Gtk theme.. took a lot of time to put together, Some of it is still not as good as I wish but I think I've got to the point I said to myself it's good enough, and release it :D

It will be great if you try adding cinnamon to it. Go ahead and try it! It will be up here to download very soon.

The issue I end up having with GTK is that the themes seem to be multi layered. With cinnamon its a fairly simple trick to do a palette swap, and change the graphics files a bit. Especially once you have someone point you in the right direction. Css is simpler to work with. Ive tried to do that with gtk and all I end up with is a hot mess.

As to a Cinnamon theme once you place the theme up, I will be glad to rewrite a cinnamon theme to match. Probably Rosewood, as I know where everything is . Also it helps to have an actual working theme, for color matching purposes.

I agree about Gtk being a PITA  .. But it is also a challenge

By the time you will get my theme you'll  have the chance to look into it and try to figure it out. I must worn you though, I not the best coding out there,

that's for sure, but it's the best I could do so far.

Lol I bet that makes for some "tense" conversations, especially toward the end of passover  . Realistically I wonder how many Christians actually believe in Yeshua .  Its funny though, I've always thought of God as an exasperated Parent, not as the omnipotant dictator some Christians tend to view him as.

also I've noticed an interesting thing most christians act like Jews, and most Jews (that I've meet) tend to act more like Christians. ( in the way the actual beliefs are written, not in actual specific practice) ie The majority of churchs I've ever been to, tend to focus entirely on the OT (Torah + various texts), where many Jews seem to practice the actual teachings of Yeshua (love thy neighbor,Judge not, Worry about your own failings, not your brothers/sisters).

Interestingly enough I've always felt more comfortable around Jews then fellow Christians.
