Plus the tooltips do not show up. Other than that, this really is a stable, nice looking build.

Have you checked the enable balloon tips option?

I switched back to using bbMean. That solved the tooltips problem.

I fell in love with this build. It worked much better than BBLean 1.17.1 as expected thanks to the myriad improvements. Thumbs up to DBlake for this build.

I'm sorry if it's a very basic question, but I couldn't find it anywhere else. How do you change the wallpaper?

Actually I don't know the supposed way. For me it worked drag'n'dropping an image file (in my case a png as far as i remember) onto the desktop background.

Yes, you can just drag and drop an image file on to the desktop, BUT...

You normally set the background image in the style file your using. Open up the style file in a plain text editor (Notepad is fine) and look for the line:

rootCommand:                           bsetroot -f backgrounds\SOME_NAME.jpg
   (or .png or whatever)

Here, "backgrounds" is a sub folder in the directory where Blackbox is installed so I don't need the full path to the file. If it resides elsewhere, you'll need the full path.

"-f" is a switch telling bsetroot to make the image fill the full screen so that any image will grow or shrink to the full screen. Other switches are available, to see a synopsis of them, open a command prompt and type:

(path to Blackbox installation folder)>bsetroot

A window will open showing besetroot options.

You can also have different wallpapers on different workspaces (desktops) but you will need NC-17's BBStyle 0.2 plugin for that. You can get it from our Plugins section.

Original dev of this here. I'm glad you guys like my build so much. I was such a newbie dev when I cobbled together enough to get this working as good as it is. I'm still rather new, in that I can't really develop my own C++ code (college really only taught the bare basics and I never really got the grasp on it).

The thing I'm most proud about is SystemBarEx. That took me a week or more of pure frustration to get it to compile, since (as far as I can recall) it was never intended to compile under x64 GCC, and especially not under as new of a GCC as I was using at the time. Unfortunately, I believe the source code to this is long-lost since I've upgraded computers several times since then. I'll have to check a few of the hard drives I have knocking about, but I think it's gone. :(

It's so good seeing you here, Blake!

Yes, your build is quite popular, hope you have time to update/enrich it :)

Your sysbarex work was really excellent, I'm sure my good old friend bladestaylor would be proud.

Welcome aboard! :)

I am trying this build right now under Windows 11. I had to. BB still has a functioning taskbar but I can't set a wallpaper. I'm juggling with menu options like: Enable Background and Smart Wallpaper and my style's config has "rootCommand: bsetroot -full C:\apps\bbleanrevived\backgrounds\starwars.jpg. It doesn't work. Nothing works. Dragging an image file to "desktop" doesn't work either.
