BBZero is unresponsive

Hi guys. I'm on windows 10 and have been using bbzero for 9-10 months now. In the past couple of weeks I've noticed that every 1 out of 3 boots, when I try and right click or access the bbzero system bar, it's completely unresponsive. When this happens I can't do anything with my laptop. I have to do a hard shutdown and then boot up again, sometimes twice, before it boots up and bbzero is working.

I haven't installed any new software. Should I just do a clean install?

I don't know what causes this behaviour but next time you could try to open the taskmanager (Ctrl+Shift+Esc) and kill blackbox.exe from there. After that you can launch it anew via "File > New Task". It's no real solution to your problem but at least you might be able to avoid the restart that way.

I would like to add to this. I have the same issue on my tower (8gb, quad core nvidia 750 win7), same thing right click - lock up. when I right click again, I get the proverbial window that blackbox has stopped working - click ok, and it kills.

I use launchy so I can fire bb back up, if you do ctrl-alt-del the taskman comes up, but it too is blank and unresponsive, if it three finger it again, it pulls up another unresponsive taskman.

regardless if I can pull BB back up, any attempt to right click further, will just freeze it and kill it. the only way to make it work is to reboot (or logout).

I will do some checking, but I think the bbinterface_itunes is causing issue. Im gonna run it a few days w/o it and let you know.

for me it also turned out to be bbInterface_iTunes to cause the freeze at the start. What makes me wonder is the fact that in the beginning (after freshly installing, configuring, theming and modding bbZero) everything worked like a charm and a while later (despite not changing anything) the problem suddenly appeared and made me deactivate bbInterface. Maybe it's some program I installed meanwhile but I don't remember if I installed one at all let alone which one.

I narrowed mine down. it is when right click and hit restart - freezes.I can reload it, but after that, it will not right click w/o freezing

I don't even have bbInterface_iTunes installed still happens in fact it happens with SystemBarEx and with BB4W start menu's when right clicking while navigating folders or properties it's a bit of a mixed bag which will cause it, but the things that do are pretty repeatable in my experience with it so far. I think it's to do with searching for a file location it can't find and hanging up and crashing by not responding, but idk something to that affect. It could be tied in somehow to DWM (desktop window manager) which bugs occasionally all on it's own and can't be disabled in windows 10 allegedly according to Microsoft at least it's tied in with GDI the only solution to DWM.exe system hanging is closing it in task manager you'd know if you've ever encountered that bug system crawls and you gotta wait to force close it or log off and log back in. I find if you logoff btw rather than restarting it's a lot quicker overall and just as effective.

OK, so it seems there is a myriad of flags that set the lockup in motion. For the most part for me its fine, but when I am working with style maker, and click "restart" BOOM lockup!

Process lasso is a good work around solution to this issue and it also has a lot of great features. Anyways with process lasso right click blackbox.exe and check "Keeping running (restart if terminates)" basically if it crashes for any reason blackbox.exe will simply restart itself automatically!
