Rainmeter, bbinterface construction problem

Best Answer chalky10 , 15 September 2014 - 10:13 PM

Hi xDemonessx,

Thankyou for taking the time to reply.

I had all the Rainmeter settings as you suggested but I was,nt aware of the padding issue and suspect this may have been the culprit, but I may never know.

I have been running Rainmeter alongside bblean  for a couple of days now with no problems.

I think the fairest thing to do now is see how it goes and if I need to make any adjustments to bbinterface close Rainmeter before I start. It does,nt seem worth exploring the issue any further as the work around seems to work fine and the general performance of Rainmeter is,nt being called into question.

Many thanks for all your help though, and I shall shortley mark this thread solved unless you want to keep going with it.just let me know

Hi all,

I originally started this topic in the chat box, but after hearing from pitkon moved it to here in the hope I may reach a wider audiance who can tell me if they have experienced the same problems I have had with Rainmeter and if there is a way around it besides the one I found.

I am using Windows 7 sp1,bblean 1.17.1 & the latest stable version of Rainmeter.

With Rainmeter running I started to build some bbi sidebars, just standard stuff like frames, labels and buttons etc but after a while things would go screwy. When trying to create new labels text did not show and color change values did,nt respond so I restarted Blackbox.

I made sure all items were attached to their frames and saved my config which I did regulary during the creation process but after I clicked Blackbox restart, ouch ! label names had merged into buttons, some buttons newly created and old had vanished, what the heck I thought !

I tried to rebuild again three times but the same happened every time, I was nearly about to give up when it occured to me that the only other thing open on the desktop apart from the wallpaper was Rainmeter so I cleaned off the corrupt bbi,s, closed Rainmeter and started again.

Well what do you know, six hours of uninterupted, uncorrupted bliss, everything worked like a charm and I finished my bbi, yay :)

I have now restored Rainmeter and all seems well, but I wont make any tweaks to the bbi without closing Rainmeter first.

I can only conclude that Rainmeter was stealing focus from the Blackbox bbi element creation process, corrupting it in some way and causing the problem,or is it just my pc hence the reason I,ve come here.

If anyone can shed some light on this issue needs more details or has experienced similar I would love to hear from them.

Phew sorry for the long post but I had to get it all out.

chalky10 :)

It sounds possible. You can set rainmeter skins to be "topmost" as an element on your desktop, but I dont know how this would effect the way elements are layered or drawn on bbinterface. My recommendation to you is to have windows draw the wallpaper in the graphics options within bblean and to make sure your rainmeter skins are set to "normal". It may help to know what Rainmeter skin you are trying to use as well. You can add padding to rainmeter skins that will make the skin bigger without you realizing it, and interrupt mouse clicks on the desktop. Setting options like "click through" on the rainmeter skin can prevent this. However if you are using an interactive skin, it may caues issues.  As someone who has been using Rainmeter alongside bblean for some time, I have not noticed any of these issues.

I am using the most recent Mojmir blackbox zero build with bbinterface_itunes. I don't have much experience with bbinterface, but after updating Rainmeter and troubleshooting my configuration (https://raw.githubus.../BBInterface.rc) I can't say I notice any issues. Buttons still work and everything remains focused.
